Modern Vintage

Modern Vintage

A couple things about this beautiful top…I am loving the fact that it has this modern vintage feel to it. I mean, who doesn’t like a good vintage piece? I also love the tastefully done beading along the bottom of the top that lends an interesting eyelet look to the overall aesthetic. You can purchase this top for yourself at Alysa Rene Boutique in Leawood.

Now let’s talk shoes. These gold beauties from the #nsale this summer were a “must have” for me. I owned a pair of muted gold Michael Kors shoes in college (albeit patent leather) and I wore them to death, because they went with literally everything., lending a bit of glam to each outfit I wore them with! So when I saw these on the Nordstrom Sale this summer, I had to have them (spoken like the creepy man in the State Farm commercial)!

I am a girl who gets really into working out for about a week two days and then it rains or I get too sore and stop. It goes in spurts like this for months, making goal training impossible and that “shelf booty” everyone is trying to achieve with one million squats- not in the cards. That is until I was introduced to CYSM a shapeware company that take your God-given body and just lifts it a little bit in all the right places. These jeans take my tiny booty from a passing nod to a “she did her squats” booty by just lifting in the hamstring area and sitting high on the waist. These jeans are so comfortable and give you a little extra swagger in your strut. Bonus-how cute are these pockets? Loving them.

I paired these jeans with a dressier grommet trimmed top with a cute bell sleeves, some chunky fabulous heels, my favorite silver cross-body purse, and an easy pair of tortoiseshell sunglasses for a fun coffee date.

Lawrence City Guide

Lawrence City Guide

Lawrence has become one of my favorite places to have a quick daytrip or a short little weekend jaunt. Since I’ve been spending more and more time here, I figured I would make up a master list of things to do, places to shop and restaurants to dine in.

Dinner Spot: RND Corner Grille. Our favorite restaurant.  Have the Crab Cakes, the Duck Confit, and the Filet Mignon. This is such a phenomenal dining experience, and I promise with the recommendations above, you will be beyond satisfied. Get a reservation!

Lunch Spot: The Burger Stand at the Casbah. This spot is truly remarkable. It packs in the masses for lunch with their amazing gourmet burgers and fantastic milkshakes. We love the Fire Burger and the Truffle Fries with all of their house-made sauces.

Breakfast Spot: The Roost. The Eggs Benny and their coffee bar are top notch.

Brewing Company: Lawrence Free State Brewing Company. Friendly staff. Great Beer. And they have some great food too!

Live Colorfully

Live Colorfully

“Live Colorfully” is Kate Spade’s mantra, but it might as well be mine! I love colors, and I really love the color combination of hot pink and orange! This Jules Reid top (told you I love these Montauk tops…they fit and feel soo good) in hot pink ikat, pairs nicely with jeans and my orange straw bag. I also paired it with gold heeled sandals for a little bit of a luxe look and Brynn Hudson earrings (on sale for 30% off right now).

Flashes of Red

Flashes of Red

This dress is absolutely killer! It makes me feel like a total Rock n Roll babe. It is a custom shirt dress made by my good friend, Christian Michael, who launched his first women’s line sHe by Christian Michael last Fall at Kansas City Fashion Week after many years of showing his beautiful menswear creations. I love the contrast of the rich red peonies against the deep black, and the longer length in the back is so key in giving interest, while keeping you nice and covered up.

Since this dress is a knockout and the obvious focal point, I wanted to keep the rest of the outfit simple with strappy black heels, white Brynn Hudson earrings, and a pair of mirrored sunglasses just for fun. (My KLASSE 14 watch/bangle combo made it in there too, because I’ve been wearing it on repeat lately!)

Thank you, Christian Michael – I’m IN LOVE.

Black IKAT

Black IKAT

Today, I’m showing off another gorgeous top from Jules Reid. I love how easy these tops are, and the material y’all: the material is just FABULOUS! I went with this simple black and cream/white IKAT top, because it’s the perfect now and later top. When the temperature starts to drop, I can throw this on with a little jacket, a black mini skirt, tights, and boots, and be styled up for the fall and winter.

I stocked up on a bunch of great dresses and tops that I will be wearing to the beach, end of summer weddings, and into the fall under jackets or with jeans.
